MEDIUM POST: The power of algorithms

After the election this year, many people began to blame Facebook because of its spread of "fake news" and other kinds of misinformation... And we all know that Facebook has a really powerful algorithm.  It might be really bad how all of these fake news are misleading the world and making us take bad decisions in some way. The problem with this algorithms is that their filters select the information we see in our feed!
As explained in the article, An algorithm is a procedure or formula for solving a problem, based on conducting a sequence of specified actions. (Go here for more)
In the world there are two "cultural algorithms" that rule the world: the ones for creating money and the ones for profit making. These two have influenced the formation and design of many companies and the economy globally.
Have you ever thought how money is created? I do not think any of us know how this works... but it all comes down to an algorithm: money=debt+ interest.
You might not have money at some point, but you go to the bank and they click a few things and there you go: you have money! generated off course by the great debt you will have in a few years plus a little bit more with the interest. So yes: your money has increased for a few seconds, but in a few years your debt with increase a lot! As you see these is a way for an algorithm to make the system work. For this reason as consumers we are encourage a lot to get more stuff and services, even if we destroy the environment around
So, if we look at Facebook again: the algorithm for making money is more powerful and destroys earth in certain way... a few mistakes in the Facebook algorithm will not cause any harm even if it influenced the elections this year!
