Hello Everyone I think we had a great first meeting it was so nice to meet all of you and hear about your experiences and career trajectories and i am excited to get going with the class. For Earsketch, just work through Unit 1 and we will go over it again in class and i will extract the important Javascript functions and standards we want to focus on. when we get some Units completed we will have a listening party for our creations https://earsketch.gatech.edu/landing/ ALSO take a look at and read: http://alistapart.com/article/responsive-web-design/ and blog your reactions for this weekend's homework. I'll introduce the article in class but i wanted to post it here for everyone so everything is on the blog. Please 1.) Check the blog daily for a few moments, comment on others posts post link, music, pictures, code etc. 2.) Avoid "webspeak" LOLZCats ROFLMAO kind of terminologies etc.. 3.) When reacting to a reading -react, give your ideas that come up, share honestly and be prepared to discuss and defend your ideas and be willing to modify those ideas, we are here to learn and we can do that with almost every notion of our design process. 4.) When reacting also avoid liking/disliking try to find what "works for you" "speaks to you" "informs your work" What is something you would like to investigate more, explore and incorporate into your work? I do not need a summary of the articles, or a book report, it's not that kind of homework. You are adults and designers and i want to know your thoughts so i learn more as well. more soon Patrick

This week at work, I ran into a very basic problem that needed to be solved with JavaScript. It involved lots of trial and error, but after 3 hours or so, I finally solved it. After the election this year, many people began to blame Facebook because of its spread of "fake news" and other kinds of misinformation... And we all know that Facebook has a really powerful algorithm.  It might be really bad how all of these fake news are misleading the world and making us take bad decisions in some way. The problem with this algorithms is that their filters select the information we see in our feed! As explained in the article,  An algorithm is a procedure or formula for solving a problem, based on conducting a sequence of specified actions. (Go  here  for more) In the world there are two "cultural algorithms" that rule the world: the ones for creating money and the ones for profit making. These two have influenced the formation and design of many companies and the economy globally. Have you ever thought how money is created? I do not think any of us know how this works... but it all comes down to an algorithm: money=debt+ interest. Y
